// Present work
This is an overview of the activities done in the current semester (M2.1).
I have done 4 modules, the User Class, the activities concerning writing my final master project proposal and work to fulfill my previous C-condition.
Regarding design, I focussed on the aesthetics in communication/presentation. The various videos and other deliverables I made this semester support this, except for the manifesto for the module Leaving the Cocoon, Facing the World. With that particular module, I agree with the feedback that my deliverables were somewhat meagre. I found it difficult to come up with an interesting, challenging topic. As a result, I put less effort in the presentation of the message than what was needed for a convincing total.
I caught up on user involvement in the User Class, bringing that area up to par with design and technology. I felt that this was needed because my focus in previous semesters was somewhat more on design and technology.
An iterative, reflective transformative design process was applied in the User Class, which further familiarised myself with this approach. I first learned about and applied this method in the design class of last semester. As part of the rewrite of the M1.2 project report, I reflected on the design process of my M1.2 project 'Sensing Bodycontact'. While doing that, I realised that the transformative reflective design process would have been very applicable to that project. Through my encounters with this reflective transformative design process, I've learned how and, more importantly, why to use it. That's why I will approach my upcoming final master project with this same process.
Throughout this semester, I further developed the belief that sound in design is important for the user experience, yet currently underrated. That's why I put special attention to sound in the module Emergent Behaviour and three of the videos that I made. Several people have commented that my attempts have indeed provided added value, so it seems it has worked.
// The big picture
Currently, the focus is on what should be done/made/investigated; why this should be done - the relevance (for me, ongoing research, society) and how. So it is about determining the scope of my activities. This was primarily expressed in the (process of developing my) final master project proposal.
