// Future work
In the next semester, I will do my final master project 'The Sound of Silent Cars' at BMW, München, Germany.
In the process of developing the proposal I not only explored possible topics: I also explored my own identity as a designer and a vision on how I think things should be designed. For me, this process has resulted in a stronger vision than the module 'Leaving the Cocoon'. This is reflected in my project proposal (see the item to the left) and also partly in the 'About me'-page.
The final master project is in line with my goal of specialising in sound in design and my belief that the impact of sound on the user experience of an (interactive) product holds many opportunities that are worth exploring. I think that in the design process, the functional and the hedonic aspects of products should be designed hand-in-hand. Hassenzahl (2001,2004 and more) states that product appealingness can play an important role in people's acceptance of new products or technologies. I believe that the sound of a product contributes significantly to this product appealingness.
This specialisation involves integration of the user, design and technology, which will be achieved through an iterative, reflective transformative design process.
// The big picture
In the coming period, the focus will be on reaching high level goals through lower level projects - everything I do is in line with the scope (vision) I have established. New insights will continue to influence this vision.
